Solid Run for Hometown Mesmer

(St. Augustine, Fla.) June 21, 2016

Nuts and Bolts:
Bobby Mesmer and TeamSLR unloaded the #7 Chevrolet Camaro on Thursday afternoon for a weekend full of adrenaline rushing activity. Racing at his home track, New Jersey Motorsports Park, it didn’t take Mesmer long to start turning fast laps.

After Friday practices and qualifying on Saturday, Mesmer felt really good about the cars handling, which translated into competitive lap times, especially on long runs.

When the green flag flew on Sunday morning, Mesmer settled into tire conservation mode, trying to limit too much sliding, as it degrades the tire grip, and slows the car down for the last part of the race. Mesmer ran very consistent laps as he patiently allowed the low tire pressures to climb to their optimum grip and the more than 100lbs of fuel weight in the rear of the car to burn off as the race went on. Mesmer’s lap times were slightly slower than the lead group early, but by mid race his times were equal, and by the end were often as good as the 5th place running car. With Bob’s solid effort, and a strong comeback from a mid-race spin, he was able to muscle his way back to a hard earned 12th, his best Trans Am TA2 finish in the first four races. This solid effort moves Bob up to 19th in the overall points standings. Solid Run for Hometown Mesmer

Push to Talk:
“Wow this race was fun. Being able to race at my home track in front of my family and friends, made this a very special weekend. My guys made my No. 7 Chevy Camaro very fast. You can tell we are making progress, and getting faster each week.” – Bobby Mesmer

“Bob did a great job all weekend. He ran really consistent laps, and gave great feedback on how the car was handling. We chose a race strategy that was a slight gamble, but we just never got the caution flag to regroup the field as we planned. Bob’s lap times were very good for a driver who just stepped into the pro series to compete with guys who have been doing this for many years longer and have tons more experience. Together we are getting faster and better each race.” – Scott Lagasse Sr.
