DON’T TEXT AND DRIVE IS THE MESSAGE FROM SCOTT LAGASSE JR. IN DAYTONA

(St. Augustine, Fla.) July 2, 2015- Scott Lagasse Jr. will be focused on delivering the Alert Today Florida message in the NASCAR Xfinity series race at Daytona International Speedway this weekend. The 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway serves as a home track for Lagasse Jr., located 60-miles north of Daytona, is St. Augustine, FL, where Lagasse lives.

TeamSLRThis time at Daytona, Lagasse will be piloting the No. 15 Alert Today Florida/Put It Down Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series: Subway Firecracker 250. Chris Rice will continue to partner with Lagasse Jr. as the crew chief.

“It is always an honor to promote and partner with Alert Today Florida. This campaign raises awareness for bicyclists, pedestrians, and motorists. As an avid cyclist, I am proud to take part in helping spread this safety message. My goal is to get everyone to just take a couple extra seconds to think about the safety of others while on the road. We had a great run in the [NASCAR Camping World] Truck Series race in February, and I’m hoping that we can carry that momentum into the Xfinity Series, for a solid run when we return,” said Lagasse Jr.

Lagasse Jr. has a long standing relationship with the Boy Scouts of America and recently read an article in “Bryan on Scouting,” about an Eagle Scout who wants to help America stop texting and driving. When William Bauman was 13-years-old, he was riding in the car with his mother, and she decided to text and drive. She caused an accident, and Bauman began his small local campaign to end distracted driving. Since then, he has been working tirelessly to put an end to texting and driving, while gaining national attention. Now, 16, Bauman is still continuing to work hard to end distracted driving, so the roads become safer for everyone using them.

TeamSLR“The goal is to make drivers more aware of the responsibility they have every time they get behind the wheel” said William Bauman. “From the time children are old enough to face forward in their car seats, they are watching us drive. Be a good example! Be a
safe driver!”

Lagasse Jr. was moved by Bauman’s story, so he made a surprise phone call to Bauman, asking him to be an honorary Alert Today
Florida team member for the Subway Firecracker 250 as a result of his efforts.

Without any hesitation, and with a big smile on his face, Bauman said with excitement
“Yes!”

“This weekend, TeamSLR/NTS and I invited Eagle Scout William Bauman down for the
race. His personal experience and his efforts to share the message with others is
impressive. William shows that you do not have to be a particular age to make a
difference. We have a lot of Boy Scouts joining us for the race, and William is another
positive role model for them to engage with,” Lagasse Jr.

TeamSLRAlert Today Florida and Lagasse
Jr. are working together to end
distracted driving and to promote
bicycle, pedestrian, and motorist
safety on our roads, race track, and

as well. The program is an aggressive

platform to engage the public.
